Preliminary & Mains Exam Pattern

The Civil Services Preliminary Examination consists of two objective-type papers: General Studies Paper I and General Studies Paper II (CSAT). The Mains examination includes nine papers, among them a compulsory English paper, one Indian language paper, and seven papers covering essay, general studies, and optional subjects. The Indian Forest Service Examination follows a similar preliminary stage with a separate Mains pattern.
